Three Way Learning Conferences

Welcome to Week 9!  We have a couple of busy weeks ahead with three way Learning Conferences held over the next two weeks.   Parents are invited to meet with their child and their teachers to discuss achievement and learning goals.  It is a great opportunity that highlights the important partnership between home and school.  The Learning Conferences replace the usual end of Semester 1 parent teacher interviews for 2020.

St Joseph's Expectations

At St Joseph's we have high expectations for behaviour, including respecting self, others and the environment.  It is important that our students model positive behaviour through their actions and words, demonstrating kindness and fairness both inside and outside the classroom.  We also expect our students to enter the school gate wearing the correct school uniform with pride.  Recently, I've noticed students not wearing their ties or incorrect footwear and uniform.  Please support us by ensuring your child has the correct uniform. Our clothing pool is available for parents should you need to replace an item of clothing.  Please see inside the newsletter for the opening hours of the clothing pool.

Kindergarten 2021

It has been exciting to meet the prospective Kindergarten students for 2021 and their parents have been able to have a brief tour of the school.  The feedback has been extremely positive, with parents remarking on how different the learning spaces are compared with their own experience of school, with rows of desks facing the front of a room.  The building design is working well, with students able to have some flexibility in where they learn, depending on their level of maturity and independence.  Recently, I asked a Kindergarten student to tell me what was good about his classroom and he exclaimed, 'Everything!'.  I am looking forward to a time when we can have an official tour for all our current parents, hopefully later next term. As this is our last newsletter for the term, I wish all our families and staff a safe, happy two week break.

May God bless you,

Katie Hanes
