Boomerang

Boomerangs were used by Aboriginal people from across Australia. They could look a little different depending on where they were made and what they were used for.

Fun fact: Most boomerangs were made so they don’t return.

Boomerangs were used for hunting, as fighting weapons and as digging sticks. They were also used to make music by rattling them together. Boomerang makers can adapt the boomerangs so they could have a lot of different uses.

Australia was not the only place in the world that used throwing sticks. A mammoth tusk shaped similar to a boomerang was found in Poland. It was believed to be 23,000 years old. The oldest boomerang in Australia was around 20,000 years old.

Boomerangs can be decorated with different types of art.
