Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Congratulations to Ms Foster and the Interschool Cross Country team on their efforts recently. We placed first. The school has been successful in six of the last seven years which is a great feat. Well done to those students who placed first or second and, also to the students for their achievement competing for their school and themselves.

Swimming for years PP- to Year 3/4 will commence on Monday. Students will travel by bus to the State Swim centre in East Fremantle. We encourage families to have all pieces of clothing, towels and goggles labelled where possible. Slip on sandals or thongs as well as something warm to wear over and back from the pool would be handy also. Students will change back at school before heading home. As the bus will be using the carpark to drop off, could any parents coming along please use the side street where the petrol station is as parking may be restricted during our 3 lesson times.

At our recent P&C meeting funding was approved to part fund classroom allowances that staff receive to buy a rang of items like cooking materials and various rewards like stickers for incentives. A bin signage competition to label our range of recycling wheely bins is being set up by the Sustainability group.

Planning is underway for a Quiz Night in term 4 along with a Disco to be run by our Year 6 fundraising team on the first Friday of term four.

The P&C team thanked Sherry for her time as a District Councillor on the WACCSO committee.

Students from years 3-6 will be working towards an Australia wide online TT Rockstars tables competition in week 6. This incentive program has been great to help improve automatic tables recall.

A new supply of RAT tests will arrive next week. We will send out an email to let you know when they will be available to pick up.

Thank you to Paul from the P&C for assisting to put together a number, of vegetable tanks bought with a successful grant that Mrs Colkin put in for, to grow edible indigenous plants. This project will begin shortly. Our thanks also to the Fremantle Council who through Kate from the P&C donated, a number of trees and shrubs. These have been planted around the school.

At our recent staff meeting we spent time becoming familiar with the Heartsine defibrillator which the P&C was instrumental in obtaining for the school. It will be housed in the first aid room.

Also, at our meeting we thanked Mrs Kitson, Mrs John, Mrs Johnson, Mrs Walker and Mrs Wright for assuming a variety of leadership roles whilst Ms Tingle has been on Leave. Their time, expertise and energy undertaking various tasks has been much appreciated
