Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

We are now officially at the half way mark of Term 3. You may have seen and heard news of teacher shortages across the state and nation and of schools which have had to pause learning programs, cancel events or even close for periods of time.  Armstrong Creek School has not been immune to the waves of illness that continue to strike across the region, meaning that juggling staff replacements remains a daily challenge. On the positive side of things, the flexible nature and commitment of our teachers and education support staff has meant we have been able to maintain all of our classroom and specialist classes with a high degree of consistency and fidelity. Keeping our core learning happening is our priority; it just may mean that your child has a different face now and then leading them through their learning. Rest assured that any replacement staff follow the established teaching and learning programs we have so deeply embedded and so for our students, the show really just goes on!

100 Days of Prep

On Friday the 5th of August we celebrated '100 Days of Prep'. Our prep students dressed in their brightest coloured and sparkly clothes to celebrate being '100 days brighter' at Armstrong Creek School.

Parents/carers were invited into the Learning Community for some fun activities before assembly.

District Athletics

On Thursday the 18th of August selected students will be heading off to compete against other schools in the district in their Athletic event. Students who have made it to the next round were recorded as the top 2 finalists within their event during our House Athletics which is a huge achievement in itself.

The event is held at Landy Field with 63 of our students competing to try and make into the division round. We are so proud of our students and the skill and resilience they show and we cannot wait to see them represent Armstrong Creek School next week!

Good Luck Everyone!!

Parent Teacher Conferences

In Week 7 we will be hosting our Term 3 Parent Teacher Student Learning Conferences. These meetings are a great opportunity to meet with your child's homegroup teacher to celebrate their learning progress to date,  discuss their Semester 1 school report and to consider future learning goals.

There is a slight change to how these will be delivered; we will run them across two afternoons – Prep to Year 2 will be held on Monday the 22nd August and Years 3 to 6 will be held on Tuesday the 23rd August.

Some important things to note:

  • Conferences will take place via Webex - teachers will share link details closer to the conference.
  • Students who have had an SSG do NOT have a parent/teacher conference.
  • Bookings will open on Wednesday 10th August and close on Sunday the 21st of August at 4pm.
  • Slightly different arrangements will exist for two of our Year 3 home groups. Those families will be notified separately.

Thanks, we look forward to meeting and discussing all the wonderful learning that has happened so far in 2022!

Science Week & Book Week

Next week we are starting our fantastic fortnight of special learning activities!

Science Week and Book Week have fallen back-to-back, and we are taking the opportunity to embrace learning across home and at school. On Monday, our Science Launch Pad will be released. I encourage everyone to follow the link which will be sent out on Monday morning to find fun science videos and activities that the whole family can get involved in. Across the two weeks we have multiple opportunities for families to come into the school and join in with and celebrate student learning. Please check the Science and Book Weeks Flyer for full details of what's on.

Father's Day/Special Person Day Stall

Our wonderful PACC are organising a Father's Day/Special Person Day Stall on Thursday 1st September and Friday 2nd September.  All gifts are $5.00 each.

Further information as to which day your child/children's year level will visit the stall will be available on Compass soon.

Take care and enjoy!
