FIRST EUCHARIST

Congratulations to Matilda Rowland and Gian Mendoza who celebrated the sacrament of First Eucharist last Saturday. Many thanks to Mrs Goddard and Mrs Howarth for preparing Matilda and Gian for their special day.

DOROTHEA MACKELLAR POETRY WORKSHOP

Sacred Heart were fortunate to have Brittany Riley from the Dorothea MacKellar Society visit last week to run poetry workshops. Brittany spent time in the Years 3-6 space and the K-2 classroom. She discussed the history of the Dorothea MacKellar Society and Dorothea’s links with Gunnedah and the Kurrumbede Homestead. Brittany talked the kids through the optional poetry topic “In my opinion”. The students in Years 3-6 wrote a poem together and then branched off to write their own piece to submit in the competition. The Sacred Heart School Learning Community wish to thank Brittany for the time she devoted to our students.
