Overview of OSHC Facilities- the video above was filmed by one of our amazing students, and shows you the physical layout of our OSHC facility.
Service news:
The children have spent time exploring new and fun experiences throughout the room, we have enjoyed playing team games and sport outside, practicing our football and basketball skills and enjoyed playing many games like 'among us' on the playground.
We have also spent some time exploring our back vegetable garden area, We noticed the orange tree has started fruiting and we were able to cut some up and have them for afternoon tea.
One of the main focuses for the rest of the year is teaching the children more ways to be sustainable, and engage within not only our community but the broader community aswell.
In the room we discussed some ways we can be more engaged in the community. We have started a book exchange program with some other TheirCare services which range from Menzies creek, to Blackburn and down to Clyde aswell. Not only are we engaging in a book exchange we are also engaging in a book donation to some homeless shelters around Melbourne. these will be dropped off families who need them.
We have a container where you can drop and collect a book to read from the exchange and you can also pass some books if you wish for them to be donated. the children are very excited about this and we have had some amazing donations already!
We are also doing bread tags for wheelchairs, there is a jar in the office and also one in service where you can put your plastic tags. These will then get dropped off and sent over to Robe, SA where they are recycled and the money goes towards wheelchairs for people mainly in South Africa, so please feel free to donate!
Throughout the last few weeks we have seen the children building some incredible lego sculptures, this has stemmed from them watching lego masters! We have seen some amazing ideas being made and little competitions in the room just like they do on the show.
We have also spent some time looking into the amazing stuff wildlife rescuers do and the hard work and dedication they have to looking after our animals, this stemmed from a few children visiting the zoo recently. its been great seeing the children take in all of this information and seeing ways they can help.
IN HOUSE
During the Holidays we also went through our assessment and rating from the department of education. This fell on the second day of holidays and we had a high volume of children attending. Everything went perfectly! When Theircare took over the service the rating was at working towards, I can now happily say we are meeting in every aspect and the service is right on track!
