School Advisory Council

Over the coming weeks, we are going to share a brief bio of our School Advisory Council Members.

This week: Julie King

About Me:

Hi, I’m Julie King, mum to Aleaha in Grade 4. I moved to Beechworth 6 years ago after living in Myrtleford for over 30 years.  I have 2 adult children, Mason and Georgia who did their schooling in Myrtleford at St. Mary’s Primary school, where I met Kitty Hancock. I enrolled Aleaha at St Joseph’s knowing that Kitty was Principal and that she would be in good hands and still is with Carly.

Why I’m on the School Advisory Council:

I have always been involved with my children’s schooling in one form or another.

Whether it's on a fundraising committee or a leadership role with Seasons for Growth, the Parents and Friends Committee or the School Board. So, putting my hand up for the School Advisory Council was just another way of being involved with my children’s schooling.

I decided to join the school Council to see how I could help make a difference and support our Principal with projects and the school's master plan and where we are at with making it happen.

What I love About St. Joseph’s:

The connected community that makes up St. Joe’s, the sense of a huge extended family where everyone knows everyone, and if you don’t it's not long before you do, feel welcomed and supported. All the kids get along so well, they are happy and look forward to seeing their friends every day at school. You can feel the love, the care and the respect that the children, parents and teachers have for their community and for others.

That’s what I love about St. Joseph’s Primary School.
