Principal's Message

 Welcome back!

We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable winter break and are all feeling refreshed and ready for what is shaping up to be an exciting term. 

Prep swimming kicks us off this week, NAIDOC Week activities today, then later on this term we have the Grade 5/6 camp, a concert and Grade 1 and 2 swimming...wow! 

Just a reminder that this term is a 10 week term and concludes on Friday, September 16th.

Mrs. Hassett on leave this week

Mrs. Hassett has extended her holiday break and is enjoying some well earned R&R visiting her son overseas. We hope she has a wonderful time.  Mrs. Hassett will be back on deck next week.

Parent/Teacher Conversations

Thank you to all the staff and parents that participated in this opportunity to connect last night. Positive home-to-school partnerships are essential for the educational and well-being success of our children. 

Parental engagement is essential in developing positive attitudes towards learning and education for children, building their motivation and confidence as learners, and fostering their enjoyment of learning so, we thank you.

NAIDOC Week Celebration

Big thank you to our Grade 2 teacher and Koorie Co-ordinator, Jordan Tomkins, for organising a wonderful celebration day today to acknowledge NAIDOC Week. Classes participated in cultural activities and the proceeds from the Indigenous Flag inspired casual clothes will be forwarded to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Thank you to those who participated as we raised a fantastic $316.

Miss Tomkins is also currently developing a Reconciliation Action Plan for our school which will see many wonderful initiatives introduced at Rollins over the coming terms and years. One fantastic program will be our Koorie Kids Club. This program will involve our Indigenous students participating in some cultural artwork each fortnight, beginning in week 3. 

Stay tuned for more exciting news in this cultural space. 

Prep Enrolments 2023

We hope we have all our zone and sibling Prep enrolments in for 2023. 

We have sent out and are receiving acceptance letters so, if you believe there may be a family wanting to enroll, please ask them to make contact with the office ASAP.

New Shade Sails

As part of our State Government Shade Sail Grant received earlier this year we have been able to increase the outdoor learning spaces at both campuses. The main campus shade sail will be erected behind Wing B  and the Batesfrd ones have been erected outside their classrooms and over the Gaga Pit.

Uniform reminder

It is great to see our students returning to school in their navy and red uniforms. Don't forget that part of our uniform is a navy beanie which you can purchase from Kmart, Target etc. If you would like a super warm one with the school logo, they can be purchased at the school office for $10.

Don't forget to name all of your child's uniforms also.

Janine Elias, our wonderful onsite Speech Therapist, finished up with us on Monday as she embarks on maternity leave to have her second child. 

Janine has been fantastic for our staff and students at Rollins and we all wish her the very best for her new arrival.
