Prefect Term Two Review

We are excited to share with you what the prefect team has achieved and been involved with in the last term as we near the holidays. The Prefect team started term 2 with our involvement in ANZAC Day ceremonies, both in Melbourne and Wangaratta. One half of our team attended the Wangaratta March with the 2/24th Battalion and Cadets and had the opportunity to lay a wreath and carry the banner, while the other half of the team travelled to Melbourne and participated in the statewide March, carrying a banner also for the 2/24th Battalion. They then attended a luncheon at the Pascoe Vale RSL and had the honour of meeting members of the battalion. The opportunity to participate in these events on such an important day is invaluable for the prefect team, and lets us maintain our school’s close, vital relationship with the 2/24th Battalion.

Please see attached The Furphy Flyer in Mufti, which is the Official Organ of  2/24th Battalion's newsletter.

The Prefect team also obtained approval for the construction of a senior social space behind the Years 11 and 12 lockers. We hope to include plenty of plants and seating areas to create a calming and social environment for our senior students, both for spending time with friends and for working during study sessions. The final design and equipment needed are currently being confirmed: stay tuned for more updates! In order to raise money to fund the construction of the social space, the Prefect team ran a casual clothes day on the Tuesday of this last week of term 2 and we raised just under $250!

A number of Prefects also attended the SEAL information evening earlier this term; we had the opportunity to speak about some of our member’s experiences in the SEAL program and meet some prospective students and families interested in the program.

On Election Day at our school’s voting booth, the prefects ran a sausage sizzle to feed all of the hungry voters and raise funds for the senior social space. We all had a lot of fun getting to know members of the community and putting ourselves out there, as well as raising more money for our social space!

We are all so excited to see what the new term brings, and wish everyone a safe and fun school holidays!
