Senior Years Term Two Review

Term 2 has seen our senior students busily working their way through major assessment tasks to finish off Semester 1. Our Year 10’s gained insights into the story of Macbeth thanks to Eagles Nest Theatre Co, which helped them add context to their study of the text.

Year 10 and 11 students experienced exams for the first time in over 2 years and are to be congratulated on the way in which they conducted themselves during that week. We hope that this experience helps them prepare for the time when they have to sit formal VCAA exams.

It has also been a term of opportunities to explore options and pathways beyond high school…

Many of our Year 10’s took the opportunity to spend a week out on work experience with students taking on all manner of activities from mechanics to real estate and hospitality. Reports back from both students and employers once again highlighted how important this opportunity is. Gary Nash Real Estate thoroughly enjoyed Cody’s company in their office as he learned all the different aspects of real estate (photo credit Gary Nash).

Students visited the Hands On Trade Careers Expo at Winton and then off to Dookie for the Food and Fibre exhibition where they could explore a wide range of career pathways from Robotics to Agriculture.

With just one term left for our Year 12’s, the spotlight has turned towards further education and employment - just recently they headed off to the Tertiary Information Seminar to garner information from universities, colleges and TAFE.

We’ve seen representatives from Monash and ANU come to speak to our students about what these institutes can offer.

Another visitor to the school was past student Sam McLean, who popped in to talk with the Year 12’s about his own experiences of completing Year 12 and then heading off to South Australia to start his career in Medicine.

Enjoy the break everyone,
