PREP UPDATE

 Learning Focus for this Week

Letter of the Week  - Every letter has been introduced now so we are beginning to revise letter sounds and begin looking at diagraphs. A digraph is a combination of two letters that represent one sound, for example, 'oo' or 'ck'. We have also been revising vowel sounds.

Reading 

For our comprehension focus, we continued reading traditional tales this week and explored Goldilocks and the Three Bears. 

Writing and Spelling

Our Writers Of The Week this week are Charlee and William. Charlee has been thinking of some great sentences and loves drawing matching pictures. William has been challenging himself by sounding out words himself.  

Maths

This week our focus has been on adding and subtracting, together with ordering numbers from smallest to largest.

One activity we did was to throw some bean bags into numbered hoops, then find our total and order our scores from the highest to the lowest.

Other Notes

Alphabet Celebration 

Next week will celebrate that we have introduced every letter of the alphabet. Some students can recognise all of the letters now, while others will continue to build their knowledge over time. We are pleased with the progress we have seen from everyone.
