Recently In Visual Arts our Junior Students took a closer look at Picassso's Weeping Woman Portrait. We discussed how she is one of many paintings featured at the NGV's Winter Masterpieces Exhibition. We wondered why the woman was crying, and why she may have felt sad. We also shared some ideas and understandings about even though we all see the same picture, we all have different ideas on how it is viewed. This is a bit like how Picasso also viewed what he saw in the World differently to a lot of other people. 

 

We talked about how Picasso used lots of different shapes and angles on this picture and began to understand that he started to develop an art style called cubism. 

 

Here are some of the superb Grade Two Masterpieces. We are sure even Picasso may be impressed!
