Term 2 has been a busy term for all. In Science, we have focussed on Earth and Space Science across the school. Many investigations have also been conducted with an emphasis on “fair testing”.
Year 1 students have spent time studying their environment by looking at weather conditions. They have also practised their classifying skills.
Year 2 students have studied Earth and resources used by people and have a greater understanding of taking care of them. They also have discussed the importance of using sustainable resources.
Year 3 students have looked closely at the relationships between the Earth, Sun, and Moon. They have carried out several investigations to see how the sun can change things.
The Year 4 focus has been on the Earth, rocks, and erosion. Many have developed a keen interest in different types of rocks.
Year 5 students have studied our solar system. Their term work is culminating in group presentations related to their research on different parts of the solar system.
Volcanoes have been the theme for Year 6 students. After getting an understanding of different types of volcanoes and major eruptions in history, they have worked in groups to research a selected volcano. Their term work culminates with presenting their findings and making a model of the volcano that demonstrates one of the eruptions that has occurred in the past.
Congratulations to all the Year 5 and 6 students who spent many lunch times working in the Science Lab to create models that are amazing.
As we approach the end of term, I am looking for helpers to feed our two chickens Millie and Coco. If you are able to help out for a couple of days, please contact me via email: sherryl.crouch@education.wa.edu.au
