Inquiry Centre

Curriculum

Welcome back to Term Three! We hope you all enjoyed your holidays and were able to do some exciting activities. A huge congratulations to all the students who performed in Mount Pleasant's Got Talent, it was so impressive to see the creativity, effort and bravery students displayed when performing in front of their peers and families.

Term 2

In the classroom last term, students were enthralled in their Guided Inquiry project, using their understanding of push and pull forces to finish building and testing their toys. Some of the impressive designs included; pizza ovens, gymnastics toys, fridges, washing machines, cars and pokemon card containers. Students also had the opportunity to put their procedural writing skills to the test, making mini pizzas and then using this shared experience to create a recipe for their delicious creations. It is fair to say students are very excited to be starting our cooking sessions this semester after this activity. The 1/2 teachers were so impressed with the term reflections created by students, thinking carefully about their goals for Term 2 and what their favourite things about school have been. During Maths sessions, we continued to practise our number fluency, playing lots of games focusing on the skills of place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You might like to ask your child to teach you one of these games!

Term 3

Parent Helpers

We look forward to commencing our parent helper sessions this term which will start in Week 3, after school swimming. If you have put your name down to help out with your classroom's reading or maths, the classroom teachers will contact you this week to confirm times, dates and what the role will look like. Thank you again to all the families who have volunteered their time, we are so grateful to have such a supportive community.

Swimming

If you have any questions about swimming lessons that are happening in the first two weeks, please contact your classroom teacher before/after school or via Sentral.

Assemblies

We are hoping to see more families attending our assemblies this term, which will also commence from Week 3. Whether your child's grade is presented or your child is receiving an award, students get so excited when they see familiar faces sitting at the back. Please check the Sentral calendar to see when your child's grade is hosting an assembly.

We hope you have a wonderful first week back at school!
