Selamat siang!

Guided Inquiry Showcase

The 5/6 cohort, had been working on making our own historic museum based on a significant event or person who has influenced and changed Australian society with exploration on how these historic events may have impacted First Nations peoples. There were many options to choose from like the Gold Rush and Anh Do but there were many other people and other events too that were showcased. During Guided inquiry sessions, we all planned on what the displays would look like and gathered important information. We all had different ideas on what the display could look like but in the end, the diverse range of exhibitions looked spectacular and just like a real-life museum. Some students even cosplayed related to their event or significant person. Here are some of the many, amazing Guided Inquiry Exhibitions:

Mount Pleasant's Got Talent

Mount Pleasant's Got Talent was an astonishing event for all the participants, the Year 6 Performing Arts Leaders and the amazing judges. Myself, being a performing arts leader, I felt excited to be hosting MPGT 2022 with my friends. We had a huge responsibility to make this the best event MPRPS has ever hosted. We just couldn’t wait to see the amazing contestants perform their acts.

(Year 6 Performing Arts Leader)

“And first I welcome Tia, Sasha and Dyuthi singing “Cover Me In Sunshine”. Samanvi spoke into the booming microphone that projected her voice to the whole entire Senior School. Classes sat quietly in the audience, waiting for the very first act of Mount Pleasant’s Got Talent… soft sweet music filled the hall and the girls started singing beautifully, and that’s when we got into that Mount Pleasant’s Got Talent spirit!

More acts followed including Jason and Jeffrey with a stunning piano duet. These included Liam and Thomas with magic that had us laughing along, Claire, Nicha, Megan, Julia and Kayla doing a lovely acapella representation of the song “Sugar”. Kaitlyn, Ann and Lily had us mesmerised with their dance and Jess impressed us with her precision on her balance board.  Jess, Amber, Olivia and Ava had lovely outfits to match the song they sung “My Heart Must Go On”.  We continued to be impressed with Alan showcasing his amazing skills on the piano, Gillian with her choreographed dance and  Lewis with his saxophone piece “Happy”. Bastion had us all clapping along with his breathtaking singing and guitar, Saumya did a very good job at traditional dancing and Zsofia sounded as if she could be a professional singer!

All these acts were outstanding with Liam and Thomas’s magic act tying with Bastion’s song and guitar performance in third place. In second place came Jason and Jeffrey’s piano recital and in first place came Zsofia’s breathtaking ballad!

We can’t wait for Mount Pleasant’s Got Talent in 2024!

5/6 Winter Sports Gala Day

Students cheered and shouted in excitement waiting for their matches to begin. MPRPS vs other schools from the Box Hill and Box Hill North Districts! As the students moved to their positions the whistle blew and it was on. All of the netball teams played well, tried their best and had lots of fun displaying integrity and fairness. And that was just netball! There were three other sports to compete in, one of them was AFL. The siren sound echoed around the ground. The players were ready as the ball was thrown up in the air by the umpire. Then there was European Handball. The whistle screeched as both players jumped into the air, tapping it to our players. One, two and three they passed.... GOAL! And finally, there was T-Ball. “Play Ball!” the referee shouted as the batter picked up the bat and hit the first ball, dropped the bat and started to sprint to the bases, first base, second base, third base, HOME RUN! One T-Ball team and one European Handball team made it to the semi-finals and just missed out. What a great effort from all players!

As Leadership Centre families know, the Year 5/6 students use Manga High to complete Maths related tasks each week as part of our expectations for homework. Each week, students are set three different tasks to complete. Below is a link to the Manga High Student and Parent/Carer Guide that may be helpful at home.
