Work experience is the short-term placement of students with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. Students are encouraged to organise their own work experience placement early so that they have the greatest chance of securing their place of choice.
It provides students with the valuable opportunity to:
- Develop employability skills.
- Explore possible career options.
- Understand employer expectations.
- Increase their self-understanding, maturity, independence, and self-confidence.

MEET MELBOURNE MILDURA
Come along to The University of Melbourne’s information evening held here, in Mildura. Future Students team will be on hand to speak to students. Key topics on the evening include:
- How you can design a degree as unique as you with our Melbourne curriculum, using breadth subjects and more than 100 majors to set yourself up for a successful career.
- Student Life initiatives, University Accommodation, our wellbeing and support services and how we can support you making your new home in Melbourne.
- Opportunities in and outside of the classroom, such as concurrent diplomas, work-integrated learning, internships, exchange and our suite of competitive scholarships.
- Access Melbourne, our special entry access scheme, which offers guaranteed entry to eligible students from rural and regional areas, and those with a disadvantaged financial background.

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) will be holding an open community information session. The session will cover information about applying to Universities, TAFEs and Independent Tertiary Colleges within Victoria; as well as information about the applications process including the ATAR, scaling, special consideration, scholarships and offers.
This event will be of particular interest to students currently completing VCE who are considering their post‐Year 12 study options and their parents/guardians, as well as anyone in the community considering further study as a mature age applicant. Students in Years 9‐11 and their parents/guardians may also find the session helpful when choosing subjects for VCE.
Mini Expo: Representatives from various Victorian and South Australian Universities, TAFE’s and independent institutions will also be in attendance.
