International Baccalaureate

Greetings Saltwater Community,

In this newsletter item, we very proudly present information relating to the upcoming Year Six Exhibition at Saltwater College.

Exhibition is currently set up in our Year Seven building and will be presented to our Saltwater Community on September 13th from 5:30-7:30PM.

What is an Exhibition?

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) represents a significant event in a student's life as a PYP student. It combines the essential elements of the PYP, with student knowledge and understandings which are then shared back to the community. This will be our very first student exhibition held at Saltwater College and we encourage community members to come along and celebrate our leaders of the primary school and their efforts to put together an exhibition to showcase their learning and actions.

The students have engaged in a collaborative, Transdisciplinary inquiry process that involved identifying an investigation into something that students were curious about related to the Transdisciplinary theme: Sharing The Planet.

The International Baccalaureate IB Mission statement aims to develop 'inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect'. Throughout a child's journey of the PYP programme, they build their understandings of the key elements of the framework that support them to become inquirers and in year 6, they present their understandings to their own independent inquiries. This is the celebration of Exhibition.

We hope to see our wonderful community members this week, celebrating our year 6 students and learning from our students via the Exhibition.

Thank you for your continued support.
