Music

Written by Michael Lapiña

And just like that, we're at the end of Term Three.

Victorian State School Spectacular

This term started with the Performing Arts students stunning the audience in our inaugural school musical Aladdin and concluded with our 36 Victorian State School Spectacular Mass Choir and Mass Dancers performing to two sold out shows in front of a combined 20,000 capacity audience.

Our students have been working tirelessly in perfecting their dance moves, learning the notes, and performing at an excedingly high standard throughout this term.  They have attended a number of off-site rehearsals with other schools, and this eventually led to their final rehearsals and subsequent performances at the John Cain Arena over the past weekend.

These performances were recorded by Channel 7 and will be televised to an audience of more than 3 million viewers on 17 December.

This was such an amazing experience for our young performing artists, and they demonstrated such a high level of professionalism and artistry that would make themselves, their teachers, parents and wider community extremely proud!

Classroom Music

Over the course of this term, our Year Two and Three students have virtually learned a new language -- the language of Music.  They are now able to recognise the various notes, rhythmic patterns, and pitch as it is written on the musical staff.

During the past fortnight, students have used the BoomWhackers to play chords, as well as performed simple songs including "Ode to Joy", "When the Saints Go Marching In", and our very own school song, "Ode to Saltwater".
