Southern Vales Fleurieu Netball Carnival

Rachelle De Fazio, Teacher

A mixture of two year 7/8 Aberfoyle Park High School netball teams were represented in the zone competition on Tuesday 21 June. This was a great experience for the girls to get some game time and experience playing together. The Aldinga Netball Club ran a smooth competition however, it took the girls some time to settle into the day.

The first game started strong against Eastern Fleurieu as the girls were finding positions and creating space, the opposition were able to make some crucial turnovers resulting in a loss by four goals. The second game's focus was positioning and trying a variety of combinations which resulted unfortunately in a 10-goal loss against Wirreanda. The next three games were successful as the year 12 coaches Tahlia and Luandri made good positioning decisions, clear directions and excitedly encouraged each player during their matches. The results proved the efforts made by all with wins against Willunga High School 11-10, Mt Barker High School 8-3 and Investigator College 9-6.

The Team finished 3rd overall giving our girls a desire to improve and build more successful moments for our upcoming carnival next term. A big thanks to Mr Leigh Rayner, Sports Coordinator, for organising this event and forever encouraging a range of sporting opportunities here at Aberfoyle Park High School.
