Debating

House Debating
Congratulations to the Benilde House who are the winners of the 2016 House Debating Competition. Debating is a great platform to address the topical issues of the moment, find voice and hone one’s public speaking skills, and be part of a team effort to present the best case possible from a collective knowledge base.
The title was contested between the four houses over the last week, debating topics including:
“Australia should have a sugar tax” and “Victoria should have a congestion tax”.
The Grand Final topic was “That the Frankston line needs Skyrail”, a highly contentious current issue which drew a crowd! A spirited and articulate performance from Benilde House was too strong for the counter arguments offered by Solomon House – so well done to Nicholas, Joshua and Thomas who are pictured proudly holding the SBC College Debating shield.
