Year 9

Term 2 ends with a number of significant events.

Football

Under the guidance of Mr Adrian Lane and Mr Roger Grech the Year 9 Football Team defeated Whitefriars to win the ACC Premiership. The boys led all day on the front oval at St Bede’s College . Kyle Yorke was judged to be the Best on Ground. Other standing players on the day and throughout the season were Lachlan Lamble and Charlie Yee. Winning an ACC Premiership is an outstanding effort in a fiercely contested competition. Well done to all boys.

Interclass Soccer

On Friday 10 June the annual ‘Year 9 Interclass Soccer Competition’ was conducted on the front oval. This was also a great event where all boys were involved in some capacity. The day concluded with Mr Lalor’s 9.9 defeating Mr Lane’s 9.3 in the Final. Joerie Van Riet, Harry Skadiang and Ryan Lehpamer were three of the better performers on the day. The most encouraging aspect of the day was the spirit in which all boys participated on and off the field.

Sailing

Two Year 9 students, Ryan Girvan and Declan Easton are part of the St Bede’s Sailing Team that will compete at The Australian Secondary Schools Team Sailing Championship in South Australia from the 12 – 16 July 2016. Some of the finest teenage sailors from secondary schools around Australia will show-case their skills in team racing. Congratulations to these students on their hard work and dedication to the sailing team.

The Music Department is always busy and once again preparing for the Melbourne School Band’s Festival which will take place in August. The competition allows boys to perform at some of the best venues in Melbourne. There are approximately twenty Year 9 students who will be part of the various bands. Congratulations to these boys who have endured many early morning starts to develop their musical skill.

Before long the students will be involved in the subject selection process for 2017. There is an Information Evening for the current Year 9’s on Wednesday 20 July, from 8.00pm-8.30pm in the St Bede’s College Hall to start the subject selection process.
