Principal's Message
Has been a busy term for all concerned. The winter sports of soccer and AFL have been a focus for many students. Firstly, it is great to see the participation of many students and the success of the teams. At the junior end of the College the success of many teams offers much promise for the future. A special thanks to all the staff who have coached the many different teams. Outside of the sporting successes it has been excellent to see the efforts of many students re: debating, public speaking, and musical production. Many students have excelled in wider community teams of: baseball, motor racing, scouts etc which the College takes pride in and congratulates each student.
Outside of the sporting activities it is pleasing to see the work of the Lasallian Leaders and College Leaders as they focus on serving the College community and wider community. Mission Day fundraising exceeded $93,000 and I wish to thank all families for your generous support. Already the following has occurred: $40,000 to the Lasallian Foundation; $20,000 to Holoha in PNG; with the remainder supporting our two immersion projects in Thailand and the Year 12 project in India.
In Term 3 focus is on subject selection for 2017. Please speak with your son about this important process and be aware of the criteria that is required for the different levels of entry into a subject.
As we commence Term 3 it is important that students maintain a regular pattern and habit for home studies. Many students have assignments to complete outside of their classwork so there is no excuse for not doing homework at least 4 nights a week. For our senior students in Years 10-12 the demands are much greater.
As we look towards the end of the year can I remind all families that we do not finish classes until 2 December. The weeks of 21 November - 2 December are for the Flying Start program where work for the following year commences and students move to the next class level therefore it is important that all students are present. I would appreciate your support by organising holiday time at the time set aside for this purpose.
