Instrumental Music Program - ULearn

With student enrolment increasing at Lyndhurst Primary we now have three music specialists; Liam Flannigan, Michelle Monnier and Craig Sketcher. To also support music in our school the ULearn instrumental program now offer woodwind lessons, including Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute. Guitar, keyboard and drum lessons continue to be popular and extra time slots are now available. Learning an instrument has many benefits such as exercising the brain, improving reading skills, increasing co-ordination, learning to work with others and teaching perseverance and patience. State School Spectacular 2015 - Year 5 & 6

For the third year in a row our school will be participating in the Mass Choir section of the Victorian State Schools Spectacular on Saturday 12th September 2015. We are limited to 20 students who can participate in this event.

The Victorian State Schools Spectacular is one of the largest recurring performances in Australia. It is a professionally staged production performed at Hisense Arena to audiences of over 10,000 people. The Spectacular includes a cast of almost 3000 government school students in a 2 hour scripted show that features, soloists, choir, dance, drama and orchestra.

To assist with the selection of a maximum of 20 students, I am asking students to briefly write about why they have applied to be part of the mass choir for the State School Spectacular. The chosen students will need to make a commitment to attend a weekly Wednesday 8.15am rehearsal during Term 2. They also need to be available for two performances on Saturday 12th September. Students must return their short writtenapplication to the office by Friday 13th February. This year students will be asked to do a short singing audition where they can sing just a part of any song.
