Flying Start Program

It has been a great start to the year at Lyndhurst Primary School!  The students have all settled in incredibly well and, thanks to our facilities manager Trevor, the school looks superb.  I hope you all had relaxing holidays with your families.

All grades have been participating in the Flying Start Program from the first day of term.  This program is designed to develop our school community – with students that have come from many different backgrounds, areas and schools, and teachers who also haven’t known each other very long!  We aim to build a cohesive group, with shared values and expectations, who have a strong sense of community.

From Ignite Bollywood staff:  Thank you once again for one of our best school incursions last week! Our dance instructors Prag and Ainslie said it was an incredible day and your students were so well mannered. The energy you have helped create in your school was clear to us as visitors. The teachers were so enthusiastic and participative and it was an overall wonderful teaching and performing experience for us.

The Flying Start program is a set of activities and experiences designed to build strong relationships between students and teachers.  The program culminated in our day with Ignite Bollywood with every child participating in a Bollywood dancing workshop then watching a performance in the afternoon from some professional dancers – and some not so professional dancers!

Lyndhurst Building Together

All students are also going through the Lyndhurst PS Building Together booklet and should bring it home to discuss with you very soon.  This booklet outlines very clearly our school’s approach to Student Wellbeing, both for parents and students.  Please talk through it with your child.  The booklet has been designed by staff and students at our school and we are always keen to improve it.  If you have any feedback on its usefulness, or ideas of other things we should include in it, please return the form in the back of the booklet, or contact me at the office.

Have a great year!
