What a week!
Well really we've had a wonderful couple of weeks! With the Community Fair and then our Swimming program we have been busy and very excited.
SWIMMING - The students have looked forward to each day getting in the pool and practising their swimming skills. It's been great to see students of all abilities enjoy their time in the water. Students that swim regularly have enjoyed developing skills and having fun while some of our first timers have learnt new skills and developed a confidence that will see them return to a pool in no time.
Thanks to all of our families who came to watch and support our Swimming program. Check us out!
THE FAIR - What a success! Thanks to our fair committee for organising such a wonderful community day. Our stalls were fairly consistent with Snow Cones more of a hit. We couldn't have run the stalls without your wonderful support - a HUGE shout out to these families who contributed on the day:
Amy & Adam Davis, Julie Bryant, Georgia Davis, Jake Hewgill, Dan Studach, Shanae Hirt, Clare Foy, Mark Gunaseelan, Melanie Norton and Emily McKerrow.
We look forward to doing this again with much support from our community!
Hope you all have a relaxing weekend - no doubt the students will be happy with a quiet weekend... I know I will be!
Excursion to Mornington Beach - Tues 3rd Dec
Yes it's only 4 weeks away! Can you believe we are talking about the end of the year!?!
We would be so grateful for you please paying for your child to attend this end of year celebration. All families have given permission. Money for this excursion was due in October so please fix this up in the coming week. The less parents I have to chase the better!
We welcome parent helpers on the day... if you are interested in coming on the bus with us, please come and see me! You will need your Working With Children Check.
We Are Learning To...
- EXPLORE MONEY! In the lead up to the fair this seemed rather appropriate. Students really enjoyed using hands on Australian coins to look at the value of each coin. We experienced ordering coins, problem solving and developing an understanding of cents and dollars.
SUMMARISE BOOKS. This has been a big reading focus. There is an expectation that students demonstrate a proficient level of comprehension when doing reading assessments. To support students with their understanding of books we explore different elements of talking about the text. Students have focused on retelling the important parts, especially the problem in fiction books. We encourage you to have these discussions with your child at home to consolidate their understanding.
WRITE FACTS & INFORMATION. Our writing has consisted of developing an understanding in students that they can write informative pieces to an audience. They can write facts and draw pictures to explain a topic. We have learnt about koalas and cows and written information to explain what is true. Maps and key words have formed part of our information writing.
Uniform
Some friendly reminders regarding our school uniform:
- PLEASE, please, please NAME your child's uniform. This is so important to ensure if, and when, it is misplaced that it gets returned to you.
- Nail polish is not a part of our school uniform.
- Girls hair accessories should be in the school colours - red and black.
