SCHOOL PRODUCTION - AIDA

And that's a WRAP!

Our journey to 'Ancient Egypt' is finally complete! Our season of ‘Aida’ has been a rousing success. We’ve had terrific audiences who have given us some lovely feedback about our performance. Shows this big, don’t just happen overnight, it’s the culmination of around six months of hard work from a huge variety of people.

Sincere THANKS to everyone who has helped from; 'Front of House' to 'Side Stage', from the School Office to the BAND and everyone in between. Thanks also to parents who continually drove students to rehearsals.

Though we battled a lot of sickness in those final weeks, the final product was sensational. We feel very vindicated in choosing a challenging show, everyone really stepped up in all areas; singing, acting, dancing, backstage, tech, everything!  Audiences seemed genuinely moved by parts of the show, which really was our goal from the start.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone involved, but especially our amazing group of Year 12s. From the six year veterans to the first timers, you have really lead by example and set a terrific standard for years to come.  We’re sad to see you leave, but feel very confident you’ve paved the way, for some terrific talent coming through.

It’s a great privilege for us to be able to work with such a dedicated young cast and crew. We’re inspired by both your maturity and professionalism, but also your fun loving attitude.  We hope you look back on your time in Egypt with great fondness, we definitely will!

As the 2019 School Production comes to an end, it is safe to say that being involved in the amazing stage show “Aida” with an even more amazing cast and crew, was an incredibly enjoyable and memorable experience!

On behalf of the cast, I would like to thank Musical Director Celeste Wells, along with Assistant Musical Directors; Jonah Phillips (Year 12) and Gabby Basset (Year 11) for working long and hard for six months to teach the cast the phenomenal melodies and harmonies that “Aida” has to vocally offer.

Along with the vocal aspect of the songs, a massive thanks goes out to the talented BAND, who provided incredible live music for every song involved in the show.

I’d further like to thank Choreographers; Jet Harris (Year 12) and Emily Reynolds (Year 11) as well as Choreography mentors; Emily Artis and Tiffany Coucaud for spending hours of their time coming up with dance moves and creating massive dance numbers, to bring the story of Aida to life.

Furthermore, a massive thanks to Costume Designer Katie Walton, Makeup Designer Emma Cooper (Year 12), the Year 11 & 12 Textiles girls and Raquel Clark who were able to recreate the Ancient Egyptian look, through amazing makeup and costume production.

More thanks go out to members of the Production Team including; Lighting and Sound Designers Stuart Morrow (Year 11) and Joshua Daly (Year 11), as well as the Backstage Crew, Prop/Set Designers, Mr Jennings, Ms Goode and Ms McGrotty, who were all pivotal in allowing the show to run as smoothly as it did.

Finally a HUGE THANK YOU to Production Coordinators; Miss Cumming, Mr Bleakley and Mr Rogers, for coordinating the entire show and making Lilydale High School’s “Aida” a possibility!
