VCE OUTDOOR EDUCATION

Mount Stirling and Mt Buller

The VCE Outdoor Education students recently visited Mount Stirling and Mt Buller for their final camp for 2019. The focus of the camp was to learn about the uniqueness and importance of healthy outdoor environments.

The first 3 days was spent at Mount Stirling Winter camp, which is designed for school groups to cross country ski in and out.  It was fantastic to see all students learning a new skill in some challenging and icy conditions. The highlight from Mount Stirling was reaching the summit on Tuesday afternoon and being able to look out across the Alpine National Park.

On the last day, each student participated in either a downhill skiing or snowboarding lesson at Mount Buller.  It was great to see the students applying their skills from cross country, to downhill skiing and becoming very comfortable in the snow.

I would like to thank all students and staff members, Michael Bourne and Jodie Street for making the camp very successful.

About VCE Outdoor Education Program

The VCE Outdoor Education program at Lilydale High School is a fantastic opportunity to learn and interact with some of Victoria’s unique outdoor environment.

It is designed at giving students the skills and ability to become lifelong participants in the outdoors.

I hope that throughout the camps this year, the students have gained the knowledge, skills and ability to participate in outdoor activities and environments for years to come.
