Spring Soiree

JMSS Music Team invites all JMSS families for a night of music performances on Thursday 5 September. Our students in the music program will be showcasing the material they have been learning throughout the year.

Date: Thursday 5 September

Venue: JMSS

Time: Doors open at 18:00. Music commences at 18:30 and finishes by 21:00.

Light refreshments will be provided (donations welcome).

Monash University has a number of carparks that are free after 17:00, including the one near Learning and Teaching Building. Please allow 5-10 minutes to walk to/from JMSS.

Stage Band News

On Saturday the 17th of August, the JMSS Stage Band participated in the 2019 Essentially Ellington Stage Band workshop at Xavier College. Students performed for some of New York's top musicians from the Lincoln Jazz Centre, Jerome Jennings and Vincent Gardner.

After the performance, students were treated to a workshop with Vincent Gardner who taught them about real jazz traditions from New Orleans to New York.

Music Camp

Music Camp 2019 took place at Don Bosco Camp in Safety Beach on 9-11 August. Students participated in a range of team-based activities, JMSS/Music trivia night and the talent show. Students in ensemble programs also participated in a rehearsal for the Presentation Night item 'Phamtom of the Opera' led by Mr. Sean Smyth, and choir sessions by Ms. Rachel Sifris and Mr. Peter Corrigan. 

Despite the severe weather condition, we managed to stay warm and have a lot of fun together. I would like to thank the 2019 Music Captains and Executive Members for organising and running this camp (in alphabetical order): Angad Singh, Ashley Kok, Caleb Watson, Chris (Bingmo) Li, Kian Ang, Sascha Shang, Teagan Taylor, Tony Gu and Victoria Pham.
