Afternoon tea with 7F

1940 Meets 2015

On Wednesday March 18, 2015 the students in 7F hosted an afternoon tea for a group of former students from our 1940 intake.  This group of delightful ladies was the first group to enrol in the school in the year it became an all-girls school.  Our current students organised an afternoon tea for the ladies, a tour of the main campus and made welcoming cards and gifts to present to our visitors.

We had a wonderful time hearing stories from the past and sharing stories of our own.  We were amazed to hear that back in the 1940s the Principal used to live on the school grounds and the students were responsible for cleaning her flat.  We hope that Ms Crofts doesn’t get any fancy ideas about that!  It was wonderful to hear the ladies speak so fondly of their time at Matthew Flinders and to discover how proud they are of their association with the school.

We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to chat our way through the afternoon and share tea, coffee and afternoon tea with our guests.
