Working Bee
Autumn Working Bee Report
On Sunday 28 May, just over 40 parents and children from HPS pitched in to improve the school's learning and play space. In the process we also got to know each other better and have fun!
Jobs accomplished included:
- Making new outdoor Learning Space for Foundation classes, with reading circle, recycled wood outdoor 'messy making' tables, recycled tyre planters and insect hotel.
- Cleaning the hall windows inside and out until they are sparkling!
- Weeding and tidying behind the Hall in readiness for student Art weaving project.
- Weeding and adding compost to veggie patches in readiness for student planting.
- Collecting rubbish.
- Mulching vulnerable gum-tree as directed by HPS arborist's report to keep the tree healthy and safe.
- Installing recycled log garden bed edging for Bush Tucker Garden.
The weather was very kind and the rain held off until it was time to go home! Hot drinks, bikkies and lots of delicious fresh fruit to kept everyone warm and fuelled during the morning. At midday everyone gathered to relax after their hard work and enjoy a chat and a sausage sizzle lunch. Fruit was kindly donated by Oakleigh Fruit Market and bread by Bakers Delight Oakleigh Links.
Thankyou to all families who donated their time to complete all these tasks and projects - we really value your contribution!
