AIDA - Production Captain UPDATE

From the beginning of March, the Production Cast and Crew of Lilydale High School have been hard at work rehearsing, in order to present the spectacular BROADWAY MUSICAL SHOW..... 'AIDA'.

AIDA is a show set in Ancient Egypt, revolving around the character Aida, an enslaved Nubian princess. She is forced to choose between leading her people, or finding true love with the Egyptian captain.

It wouldn’t be a musical, without singing or killer harmonies and luckily, AIDA has them all.

Celeste Wells, Class of 2017, has come back to LHS to lead the vocals of the show and has taken up the role of Musical Director, alongside Assistant Musical Directors, Jonah Phillips (Year 12) and Gabby Bassett (Year 11).

Every Monday and Thursday afternoon, the cast collectively come together and are split into their respective voice types, ranging from alto to soprano and when singing together, produce phenomenal harmonies.

And let’s not forget the amazing choreography that backs up the vocals, as well as creating the action of the show. With Jet Harris (Year 12), Emily Reynolds (Year 11) and ex-students Emily Artis and Tiffany Coucaud (Class of 2018), the choreography team have come up with dance moves ranging from, Egyptian posing and power stances, to walking the catwalk that will blow you away.

Finally, it’s the details provided by the production team’s 'Backstage Crew', that really bring the show together including; the props, sound and lighting, that create the setting of Ancient Egypt, the makeup and costumes that brings character to each and every single member of the cast and the band, that plays the music, bringing the story of Aida to life.

Show dates are on Thursday 22, Friday 23 and Saturday 24 August.

PRODUCTION PARENTS

PLEASE NOTE - All Featured Chorus and Chorus students, have now received information regarding costume items they need to source. Please ensure students are actively searching for these items over the holidays.

Holiday Rehearsals will be 10 am to 3 pm on both Wednesday 10 July and Thursday 11 July. All students are expected to attend.

A mobile number will be emailed to all parents/guardians, that they can RING, during the hours of production, for any questions OR queries during rehearsals.
