HUMANITIES

Year 7C History

7C History had an introductory lesson yesterday of how the Ancient Egyptians believed in the afterlife and conducted their burials, in particular mummification.

On Thursday, the students created clay canopic jars that held organs to preserve them into the afterlife.

The canopic jars represented the four sons of the god; Horus, the jackal-headed Duamutef (stomach), falcon-headed Qebehsenuf (intestines), human-headed Imsety (liver) and baboon-headed Hapi (lungs).

7C presented these fine ceramic works.  Congratulations to all students.

Year 7F History

This week, the students of 7F revisited the topic of Ancient Chinese Inventions.

"The people of Ancient China were the first to discover or invent many things that we take for granted today such as; paper, printing, ink, printed books, umbrellas, decimal system, books, fans, the compass, horse collars, paper money, etc."

The students enthusiastically participated in the fine art of Chinese calligraphy, writing either their names or values using ink, fine paper and bamboo calligraphy brushes.

Congratulations to all students.
