Year 9 Captains' Report

Last week, all of the Year 10’s underwent their Year 10 exams. This meant a lot of studying, hard work and effort was put in. During this week, many of the Year 10’s are reflecting on their progress and are setting goals for ways to improve on their educational journey.  Overall, all Year 10’s did a great job and shall continue to keep up the great work in all of their classes.

Year 9 Health and Wellbeing Day

On Thursday 13 June, Year 9 students had the opportunity to participate in the Year 9  Health and Wellbeing Day. The boys spent their day at the Lilydale Bowling Club, whilst the girls stayed at the Lilydale Football Club for the day.   This was a great opportunity to create new friendships with others that had many similar interests as us.

The staff planned out many exciting activities for the students such as embroidery, boxing, football, yoga and even a peaceful walk. These activities enabled us to find out hobbies that we never experienced before.

The Middle School Coordinators talked to the students about empathy and resilience and how we can gain these characteristics and use them in our daily lives.

The girls had two VCE students come in and speak about how they gained resilience and how to stay motivated at school, which was inspiring.

I can say on behalf of the Year 9’s, that we all had a fantastic day to just focus on our Wellbeing.

Coming up in Term 3, is the House Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 23 July. The day includes a range of running, jumping and throwing events. Students can compete in as many different events as they please. Top competitors from each event will go through to the Yarra Group Regional competition held later in the term.

This day is for all students to compete, have fun and try their best. It is a great opportunity to interact with students and teachers outside of the normal school environment. Hope to see you there!
