Retreats

On Wednesday May 8, Year 11 Lasallian Youth Leaders (LYLs) had a booster day to reflect upon the legacy of St John Baptist De La Salle and to prepare for some upcoming community service, including helping to facilitate the Year 7 and 8 retreats.

Years 7 and 8 had their retreats on the 9th and 10th of May. Both retreats were conducted in the Torregiani Room of the Cathedral precinct. The Year 7 theme was 'Building Community'. The Year 8 theme was 'Heroes'. Both retreats were facilitated by the Lasallian Youth Ministry Team from Sydney, supported by our own Year 11 LYLs.

Sebastian Duhau was the Australian Auditor recently in Rome and personally gave young Australians perspectives on the Church to Pope Francis.

Both retreats were marked with great spirit, fun, games, discussion and prayer.

Thank you to all Year 11 LYLs, Year 7 and Year 8 for their cooperation and enthusiasm.

LYG

Lasallian Youth Gathering ( LYG) Melbourne.

Nineteen hardy O'Connor students travelled by train ( yes, that's right ) all the way to Melbourne to network with other young Lasallians from all over the Pacific. It was an absolute party of prayer, inspiring speakers, great music and fun. The pilgrims were great ambassadors for O'Connor. It was wonderful to see our own Lasallian Youth Ministers, Eliza, Brydie and Isaac so vital to the program and presentations. Many thanks to Miss Roach and Ms Fulwood for chaperoning our pilgrims but don't expect to see them on a train any time soon.

ACYC

Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYC), Perth.

Our pilgrims are 12 in number to join with other Diocesan Schools for the long trek to Perth in December. Any students wishing to join now as pilgrims need to see Mr Roff as soon as possible.

Mass

Mass starts next Wednesday.

Term 2 Masses start Wednesday. Year 11 will celebrate Mass together. Mass is most Wednesdays in the chapel starting at 9.15am. Parent, Friends and parishioners are very welcome to attend.

Thank you

Damien Roff
