Dear families,

This week we begin the Season of Lent.  Lent is a time when we all try a little bit harder to be better, especially to be better followers of Jesus.

We know that the practices of fasting, prayer and generosity are good ways to do this. 

As we begin the Season of Lent this year in our 90th anniversary year of our parish and school, I would like to ask something of all of you.

We are familiar with the 'Febfast' and other personal challenges for good causes. I would like our school families to take up the challenge of Lent with a particular effort to try to bring your families to Mass each Sunday of Lent.

I understand that we are all busy people, and we have many commitments, and it is an effort to get the family ready for Church.  But when we think about why we are at this school and what we want for our children, I know that this invitation or 'spiritual challenge' is one that is not beyond us.

Please consider giving example to your children this Lent, and doing yourselves a 'spiritual favour' by making a special effort to attend Mass at St Fidelis' on the Sundays of Lent.

Time spent with God is never wasted.
