College Opening Mass

On Thursday 13th February, Kildare Catholic College Community gathered for our Opening Mass, celebrated by Fr Paddy Sykes. It was wonderful to have the presence of families, friends and special guests representing the Presentation Sisters and Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga. Thank you to the College and House Leaders, the Year 10 Band and singers for taking on key roles in our celebration.
We officially begin with Mass by entrusting to God all that we will do this year, asking God to be with us through all the ups and downs. We also ask God’s help as Australia continues to battle and recover from the devastating bushfires. We know God is with those whose lives will never be the same and we give thanks for the stories of survival, courage and the very best of human nature that emerges in these times. This strength of character has brought Australians together, supported by many from around the world, evidence that we are one human family.
This year is particularly significant for the Church in Australia, as we prepare for the 2020 Plenary Council. We pray that the Catholic Church in Australia will receive 20/20 Vision which can only come from being open to “Listen to what the spirit is saying…”
