  • Charles Sturt University (CSU) are coming to give an interactive and dynamic presentation to Year 12 about what studying at university is really like.
  • Students will discover the possibilities for their futures through hands-on exercises to compare their post-school options.
  • Students will also learn about the benefits of attending a regional university, plus meet current students and hear about their experiences on campus.
  • They will be here on Tuesday 25th March @ Lunchtime

    • As part of SRS (Early Entry) the school is required to complete a rating. 
      • One of the sections is 'Genuine interest' in course listed. This can be demonstrated by
        • Making sure Ms Murray knows early on that you are interested
        • Attending any relevant Careers Related Activities organised by Ms Murray
        • As such filling in this form is essential. I will print off a sheet with names of all who have registered and mark the roll in the day.

What do Pharmacists do?

As one of the most trusted professions, a Pharmacist’s job is to prep and provide over-the-counter drugs and fill prescriptions, provide advice about the best medications and treatments for minor ailments, as well as how to safely take medicines.

If you pay attention to details, have great communication skills and a caring personality this could be a career to consider.

 

About you:

The job:

  • Advise medical professionals and patients on medications, dosages, side effects and when, or how, to take them
  • Accurately prepare and dispense medications
  • Become an integral part of a patients on-going treatment

Although this is a competitive field, there are more opportunities to be found if candidates are willing to move to rural and remote locations.

 

How to become a Pharmacist in Australia

On average, it takes 6 years from leaving Year 12 to becoming a fully qualified, practising pharmacist.

 

  1. Study Chemistry and Mathematics at school
  2. Look at degrees you’d be interested in check any other pre-requisites required
  3.  Complete your university qualifications in Pharmacy (either a 4 year Undergraduate Bachelor of Pharmacy degree, or a 3 year Bachelor degree and a 2 year Masters in Pharmacy)
  4.  Pass the board of registration requirements
  5.  Complete a 48 week internship with a registered pharmacist
