Football

Dear Parents and Players,

Well done on a successful weekend of football with particular mention to the mighty 14Cs who managed an impressive 0-0 draw in their fixture against the 14Bs.  There is no football throughout the break for most teams, with training commencing on the first day back of Term 3.  We wish the 1st XI good luck in the July Cup held in the last week of the holidays.  Have an enjoyable break.

FOOTBALL CLUB NEWS

College Mid-Year Holiday Football (Soccer) Skills Camp:  Just a reminder to book your boys into the Skill camp in the 3rd week of the upcoming holidays – you will need a break by then!

We understand that there is a clash with the Year 6 tour commencing on 20th July.  Unfortunately we can’t alter the camp dates at this time but we are offering a two day option for $90 to attend on 18th-19th July for those touring who would still like to attend the camp.

The three day camp will run 9:30am-1:30pm 18-20th July.  The camp is tailored for all age groups Years 5-10. We particularly encourage some of the older boys to come along as the ISA finals will be upon us early in Term 3.

The cost includes bus transfer to/from College to Oxford Falls if required (9am pick-up- 2pm drop-off).

The camp is run with professional coaches under the leadership of our Technical Coaching Director, Chris Semaan.  A first aid officer is present each day.

Bookings can be made here:  www.trybooking.com/361961  or on the school App in the Senior Sport/Football section.

Quality contests with quality play

Despite only winning two games on Saturday there was much to applaud in most of our games.  The 16A and 13B teams turned in winning performances, the 16As understanding the value of retaining possession and building pressure, allowing instinct and skill to do the rest. The 13Bs played a level of rugby beyond their years, weight and size.  Our younger teams were completely dominated physically but still played some excellent free flowing support-based rugby, despite limited possession.  The holiday break, until we play St Augustine’s on 28th July, will give many of our injured players the time to recuperate. The 15 s in particular have lost several players due to long term injuries.

Not so for the Opens who embark on the annual Queensland Tour and a chance to experience tournament rugby on a day-by-day basis. Last year's tourists were unbeaten so our current squad has a challenge ahead of them. Touring and playing under pressure is an experience to be enjoyed.

To all our players enjoy the break, re-hab well and don’t give up on the Wallabies - some young players are coming through.

ISA Tennis

Our teams continue to consistently bring some great gameplay to all their matches, and last weekend was no exception. All teams played against St Patrick’s College and met the challenge valiantly. Ultimately, our well-deserved congratulations go to Tom Ryan, John McKinnon, Nathan Constantino and Alessandro Muranty in Division 5 and Will Birchall, Jarred Lam, Jack Leonard and Lucas Wong in Division 8 for winning their matches.

Our players can now enjoy a respite from the competition until Week One of Term 3, when we return to training and then that weekend will face off against St Andrews Cathedral School and St Paul’s Grammar.  See the draw below.
