Year 7 Camp
Lots of fun had by all
An enthusiastic bunch of Year 7 students and teachers travelled to Nepean Adventure Centre at Douglas Park to embark on three days of fun and adventure. While there we participated in a multitude of activities that brought the year group closer together.
These activities included Freefall, high ropes, giant swing, raft building, archery, Orb Ball and canoeing. Even though many of these activities took us well outside our individual comfort zones, support from our Year 7 peers and the Year 11 peer support leaders enabled us to complete the challenging tasks and build our self-confidence.
One of our favourite activities were the group sporting challenges. We had to use each other’s strengths to complete the course that included giant logs that were 1-2m apart.
The camp was a great way for year 7 to get to know each other better as we have come from many different primary schools. It was a great excursion and one that I will remember for many years to come.
Thank you to the Year 11 Peer Support leaders - Jacqui Dresser, Victoria King, Erica Sullivan, Drew Willis, Lachlan Wilson and Sam Long - you were our guides and great role models for Year 7. Also thank you to the teachers who attended to our needs and supplied endless encouragement during the activities - Mrs Brien, Mr Bates, Mr Dunk and Mrs Dunk. Also thanks to our Year Adviser Mr Le Page who was unable to attend the camp but had done the hard yards before hand organising the excursion.
