VCE Music Performance Harpsichord Experience
On Wednesday 7 August, four students: Jemima Schuller, Nikki Zhou, Yiyang Xu and myself from the Unit 3/4 Music Performance class, accompanied by our teacher Ms Waddington, travelled to Mentone Grammar to play the harpsichord. Playing the harpsichord was strange at first as it felt and sounded very different to playing on a piano. However, it was a very useful and unique experience as harpsichords are very rare instruments, and we were privileged to have the opportunity to try playing one. It allowed us to gain a deeper understanding of the harpsichord and baroque music, thus helping us to present a more informed interpretation of our pieces, a criterion that is assessed in our final performance exam.

Winter Concert
The annual Winter Concert took place in the Theatre, where many students, teachers, families and friends saw performances in many different sizes, from duets, to small groups and large ensembles. With the addition of the number of new ensembles debuting this year, Winter Concert ended well into the night, but the wait is well worth the new grooves each ensemble has worked tirelessly on to bring to fruition. It brings me great pride and joy to lead such an awesome and prestigious Music program, and I can’t wait to see how each music student evolves their strengths and skills from here.
