Book Week Celebrations - 2019

The Information Resource Centre is celebrating Book Week 2019 from 16 to 23 August. The theme for this year is “Reading is my secret power.” A whole range of activities such as Interhouse Book Quiz, Interhouse Spelling Bee and Creative Writing Competitions in various divisions have been planned.  Two writers-in-residence namely Alice Pung and Lili Wilkinson will also be at school during the celebrations. They will deliver lectures and conduct workshops on creative writing for selected students.

On the last dayof Book Week, students and staff are encouraged to come in their favourite book character costumes or multicultural dress with a gold coin donation for “Write-a-book-in-a-day” teams for Kids Cancer Project.  The celebrations will culminate with a morning tea for staff and community members followed by a fashion parade of costumes at lunchtime.

Through the various activities planned we aim to encourage the students to get interested in books, embrace wide reading and help develop a reading culture at Nossal for improved learning outcomes across all subject areas.
