Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 2 has certainly packed a punch, with many opportunities to celebrate what makes Sacred Heart a most unique school.

Our students have been involved in community events, such as ANZAC Day, the Narrabri and Gunnedah Eisteddfods and our Mother's Day breakfast. From a learning perspective students have been able to participate in events with other schools including Science and Leadership days, Cybersafety and Red Cross Emergency workshops, transition and debating. It was lovely to see so many families and Parish members help us celebrate our masses held during the term as well as Confirmation and the Feast of the Sacred Heart celebrations. We will end the term with our NAIDOC celebrations and MND Awareness day. Our school truly appreciates your support and commitment to our students and we look forward to the upcoming events for Term 3.

Our debating teams continue their campaign for 2023 this year. Congratulations to Miss Morrissey and her debating team on their successful debate against St Xavier's Gunnedah last week and Mrs Fenton's team debated against St Nicholas Tamworth today and were also successful.

In 2023 there have been some curriculum reform made to the English and Mathematics syllabi for K-2, with further reform to be implemented in 2024 for Years 3-6. As a result, there will be changes made to how we report on English and Mathematics for K-2 this year and Years 3-6 next year.  If you require a handout from our information session last week, please contact the school.

Transition for 2024 has commenced and we are very happy to welcome our new Kindergarten students for next year.

If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023, please encourage them to contact me at school.

We would also like to wish all those lucky enough to have a birthday during the holidays, Miss Morrissey on the 5 July and Tyler who turns 7 on the same day, Molly who turns 12 on the 8 July and Matilda who turns 10 on  15 July.  We hope you all enjoy your special day.

I wish everyone a restful and safe holiday with a chance to relax and spend time together. We will return to school on Monday 17 July.

Take care,

Kath Baird
