Soccer

The 15 & U boys soccer team played Rowville today in the third round of the prestigious Bill Turner Cup. Rowville specialist soccer program has been established for at least five years and this showed. The team was physically strong and technically sound. Out WHC team tried valiantly and took on board feedback given to them at halftime to rally in the second half. Greater defensive pressure was applied and WHC managed to hold Rowville to one goal, whilst managing to score one themselves. Unfortunately, the damage was done in the first half and we lost 5 -1. A great learning opportunity for our young program and we look forward to participating in this event again in 2024.

Netball

As the Specialist Netball Program heads into the final fortnight of Term 2 we have covered much on and off the court. The Year 7 Squad are preparing for Western Region SSV that will take place next week in Melbourne supported by our Year 8’s who narrowly missed out on progressing. The Junior Squad has made some great progress over the term in the way they conduct themselves and standards on court, in the gym and other educational learning environments. Our Intermediate and Senior group are ramping up their match play with their SSV tournaments commencing early Term 3.

On court, we are very fortunate to be able to utilise our strength and conditioning coaches in some of our sessions to run through a dynamic warm up and implement conditioning to build on and continually improve our fitness. From there, our focus has been developing our specialist areas and implementing our skills into match play and preparing for upcoming SSV competition.

Within the classroom, our educational focus has been on the Ideal Team Player and building on from self-assessments and setting goals to focus on improvement in areas of Humble, Hungry and Smart and how we can contribute to our team focus more significantly through many different ways. We have also been working on performance analysis and progressing to taking Statistics and how we use them to interpret what is happening in a game. Our player athletes will continue to look at performance analysis and extend in this area in Term 3.

We also held our trials last week for Student athletes interested in being considered for the Netball Program for mid semester positions and 2024. The Netball Program is a select entry program and more information can be found on the school website.

Outside of school, a large number of our Netball player athletes competed at the Representative Level for their Association at last weekend’s Central West Association Championships. Well done to all who participated across the day and best wishes to those progressing to the State Association Championship Level.
