Dear Families,

Term 2 Principal Cuppa & Chat

Thank you to all the parents (& grandparents) who were able to join me for this term's Principal Cuppa & Chat yesterday afternoon. It was great to chat and share with you some of the positive & exciting things we are planning like our Winter Fun Fest, a “refurbishment” of the boundary fence line, and some play space improvements & upgrades. If you missed this one, don’t worry, there’ll be another opportunity next term!

Holy Saviour Winter Fun Fest

We’re going to finish this term with a big party! On Thursday 22nd June, we will be celebrating our first Winter Fun Fest. We’re getting the big inflatable movie screen for a whole school movie, plus everyone gets popcorn, pizza, sweet treats and a drink, all provided through the fundraising efforts of the School Advisory Council. Children are able to wear casual clothes on the day, and there’ll be a variety of games and activities led by our House Captains in the afternoon. Please make sure you get your pizza & cake order in via theGoogle Form linked here by Monday 19th June.

After Mass the classrooms will be open for everyone to engage with our staff and students to share in the students’ Celebration of Learning (10-11am).

Lamont Book Fair

Exciting news! The Lamont Book Fair arrived this afternoon and will be open before and after school from Tuesday 13th - Wednesday 21st June.  Children will have an opportunity to view the books during their library times and create wish lists. Parents are welcome to browse the books before and after school as well as during the parent teacher interview days  (Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st June).

If you choose to purchase any books, EFTPOS/cash payments can be made in the library or if you would prefer you can make payments online by going to https://payments.lamontauthors.com.au  and we can set the books aside for collection. Ordering instructions are also provided on the back of the wish lists.  Please contact the office if you have any questions.

If any parents are available to assist with the book fair please email Kerry Klidomitis.

Semester One Reports & Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

On Tuesday 20th June from 2pm to 6pm and Wednesday 21st June from 2pm to 8pm our Semester One Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences will take place for all students. Semester One school reports will be distributed to all families on Friday 16th June. This will give families five days to dissect, interpret and absorb their child’s report, and bring discussion points to the Parent Teacher interview. Interviews are strictly for 15 minutes so please be on time as this will keep things flowing on the evening. All interviews will be conducted from the classrooms off the Shared Area with JLC and MLC in their usual classrooms, SLC will be in the STEAM Room.

The portal to book your interview will be open this afternoon, parents will need to go to https://www.schoolinterviews.com.auand use the code phh9g to book a time or CLICK HERE to make a time.

Student Reports

Last year, we sent your child’s semester report online via the nForma Parent Portal for the first time. Instructions on how to access the nForma Parent Portal were sent out to the email addresses that have been previously supplied to the school. These emails were sent out on Wednesday 14th December.

If you are having trouble accessing the reports from last year, you can go directly to the parent portal via this link https://parent.nforma.com.au/portal/#/login?schooldomain=hsvs. From there, you will need to login via the email address you have provided to the school. If you have forgotten your password, please follow the 'forgotten password' link. Please note that your new password needs to be at least 7 characters long and must include at least one non alpha-numeric character, e.g. *, - / or similar. If you have requested a password reset and the email does not appear, please look in your junk/spam folder for an email from no-reply@nforma.com.au.

Once in the portal you will need to choose your child (if you have more than one at our school) and then choose 'Assessment and Reporting'. Then select the year/semester. If you have any questions or issues, please contact the school office. This portal will be used for the 2023 student reports in June and December.

St Vincent de Paul Winter Food Appeal

We are asking for donations of non-perishable foods (until Friday 23rd June) for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Food Appeal.

To ensure we get a good range of items we are suggesting different levels bring different types of items:

Year 3/4 – tinned foods (eg. fruit/vegetables/fish/ meat/soup)

Year 5/6 – rice/pasta/sauces to make a meal

Of course, ALL donations are welcome and are not limited to specific year levels.

Thank you for your generosity!

Vinnies CEO Sleepout

There’s less than 2 weeks to go until the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Right now, there are over 122,000 people experiencing homelessness in Australia. And every day, the cost-of-living crisis is pushing more Australians to the brink. The long-range forecast for 22nd June is a low of 6 degrees overnight, luckily I’ll have warm clothes,  a sleeping bag and a hot meal – which is sadly more than many people can rely on. Please help me raise money to keep our fellow Australians safe and sound: https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/fundraisers/steve-evans/victoria and contribute what you can to this invaluable cause.

Parish Youth Choir - Expressions Of Interest

A Holy Saviour Parish youth choir for children from grades 4-8 is being considered, depending on the level of interest. The youth choir will perform at one Saturday evening mass per month, and will include some rehearsal time. If your child is interested in participating, please email the Parish office with their name, grade  as well as parent contact details.

Holy Saviour Trivia Night

Our Trivia Night is now scheduled in Term 4 on  Saturday 7th October. This event will be our major fundraiser for the year and we want to make sure adequate preparations are made.

With this being said, we are calling for any volunteers to join our Trivia Night Committee. If you are interested in helping out with the coordination of the Trivia Night, please contact School Advisory Council Chairperson, Belinda Saville, to register your interest (binndy20@gmail.com). The first meeting for the committee will be following our next SAC meeting on 20th June.

Trivia Night Donations

Do you run or manage a business? Is your business in a position to donate goods or a gift voucher? We are seeking donations for our Trivia Night that can be used for raffle prizes, silent & live auctions, or even spot prizes throughout the night. We are grateful for any and all donations and your business will be promoted on the night and in our newsletter. Please contact Belinda Saville (binndy20@gmail.com) or bring your donations directly to the school office.
