ILF BOOK SWAP

This week St Aidan’s held our annual Great Book Swap!

The Great Book Swap is a fantastic way to celebrate reading locally, learn more about Indigenous languages and culture, while raising funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Students arrived at school excited to swap their gold coin for a book! The buzz around the school was amazing as students were reading their “new books” in the classrooms, whilst eating, and during playtime!

We made an amazing $683.65!!

AUTHOR VISIT

This week students in Years 2-5 enjoyed a visit from George Ivanoff, a renowned Australian author and illustrator. George was engaging and offered students an insight into the inspiration for his writing and the process involved in creating his many novels.

The children were intrigued and excited by his animated reading of various excerpts from his latest book Monster Island. He definitely has a few new fans!

Author visits always reinforce the value of  reading for pleasure.

Happy Reading!
