This term St Aidan’s will be running two fundraising initiatives for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Let’s help end the homelessness crisis together.
The focus for the 2023 Vinnies Winter Appeal is the issue of older women experiencing homelessness. Our school’s contributions to the Winter Appeal will allow Vinnies to continue supporting older women who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless, to have access to the support they need to get back on their feet and to be safe and well.
Fundraiser One - St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal
St Aidan’s has a long standing tradition of participating in the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Please see the table below for what each class is responsible for donating. To uphold the dignity of those receiving goods, please ensure that all food items are not due to expire for at least the next 6 months.
Kindy | Year One | Year Two | Year Three | Year Four | Year Five | Year Six |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dry Pasta Pasta Sauce | Tinned Soup Tuna | Instant Noodles (Chicken/Beef) Vegemite | Long Life Milk Milo | Sugar Tea Coffee | Shampoo/Conditioner Body wash Deodorant Lip balm |
Students can bring donations to school with them and in the main corridor of the school there will be labelled containers for them to place the donations.
Fundraiser Two - Pyjama Day
On the last day of Term Two (Thursday 29 June), St Aidan’s will be having a Pyjama Day. All students are invited to wear their pyjamas and dressing gowns to school. Every student who wears their pyjamas is asked to donate a “winter woolie” that will be donated to the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal. Please ensure “winter woolies” are in new and clean condition.
We will be collecting:
I am pleased to announce that St Aidan’s is rostered on to make sandwiches once a term for the remainder of the year. We will make 200 sandwiches that will be delivered to St Vincent de Paul and given out on the Night Patrol van.
On Friday 23 June, we will have our “Dollar for a Dinner” Mufti Day. All students are welcome to wear mufti clothes on that day and donate a gold coin. This money will be used to buy sandwich ingredients for the St Vincent de Paul Night Patrol.
On Wednesday 28 June at 1:00 pm, the Mini Vinnies students will make 200 sandwiches to be distributed that night. We warmly welcome any parents, older siblings and family members to help with this task.
Students in Year 6 celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation yesterday evening. It was a beautiful ceremony that was celebrated by Bishop Danny Meagher. Confirmation continues the initiation process, a perfecting and completing of Baptism. The Holy Spirit empowers us to be the best Christians we can be.
Thank you to all those who helped in the preparation of the students for this special occasion.
We look forward to seeing you all at our next Family Parish Mass on Sunday 25 June at 9:30 am. There will be a morning tea to follow.
We warmly welcome all students and their families and friends to these events. A reminder that you do not need to be Catholic to join us for this special event.
