Japanese

Welcome back for Term 3! It is so lovely to again hear the students saying greetings in Japanese! This term we are very lucky to have two Japanese volunteers supporting our language program. Rena san started this week and has been enjoying meeting our lovely students, and Mika san will be starting in the coming weeks.

Japanese people celebrate Tanabata (Star Festival) in July and August. Our F-2 students are learning the story of Tanabata and how it is celebrated. Foundation and Year 2 students created beautiful decorations for the bamboo tree last week and Year 1 students re-created a scene form the story. Well done on your fantastic work F-2 students!

Year 3 to 6 students have been working hard developing a role play. Students are building the language they need to create and perform a short skit. This involves remembering vocabulary and sentence structures as well as getting intonation and pronunciation right. Some students have done incredible work - our Japanese volunteer Rena san is super impressed! Keep up the great wok Monty linguists!
