Health/P.E

This week in Health/P.E

Foundation P.E

This week in Foundation P.E our focus was on ball handling skills and teamwork. We practised our throwing and catching using various ball shapes and sizes as well as adjusting our distances. We are developing our teamwork skills and we did this by playing a game of tunnel ball and under over tunnel ball. What a great team building exercise this was. We are getting so good at tunnel ball now. Finally, we finished off with the ultimate team building exercise, the class parachute. Mrs Costa gave us three challenges. The first one was to try and keep all the balls on the parachute, the second one was to try and get all the balls off the parachute and the third one was to try and get under the parachute ourselves. What a fun week in Foundation P.E!

Year 1& 2 P.E

We started off our P.E lesson with the ultimate obstacle course. We had swivel boards, hopscotch, balancing beams, activity dice, ring toss, egg and spoon race, sliding mats, ladder runs, bowling pins, hoola hoop bean bag toss and so much more! We were able to rotate and spend 3 minutes at each activity session. This was just so much fun and we were able to learn and develop a range of abilities such as agilty, running, jumping, throwing, balancing, hand eye coordination, team work, partner work, following instructions and so much more.

The following week in P.E we had a focus on team work. We practised our throwing and catching skills with a partner, using various balls of different shapes and sizes and also adjusting our distances every few throws. We then moved to our favourite game, the hoola hoop – paper, scissors, rock game. This truly is a favourite amongst this cohort. Finally we finished off with the best team building activity. A soccer goal kick off! The students had so much fun. It was so great to watch them cheer each other on and create a sense of team.

P.E 3&4 – 5&6

Our focus the first two weeks back has been Athletics events in preparation for our upcoming Athletics carnival on Tuesday the 25th of July. Students learnt, practised, and recorded their furthest distance scores for two events – shot put and discus. We then spent time practising triple jump, long jump and sprints form various distances. We are really excited and looking forward to the 3-6 MPS Athletics Carnival.
