Reading:
In Reading, students will focus on reader’s theatre this term. Reader’s Theatre simply means “reading from a script”, which is a fun and interactive way for students to improve their reading fluency, tone and oral speaking skills. Students have also been investigating all sorts of elements of figurative language and here we can see a class anchor chart for Onomatopoeia.
Writing:
In writing, students have been investigating Information Reports. This will support them to complete the first element of the term integrated homework task on natural disasters. They have been busy examining reputable sources to collect facts, all the while focussed on the need to write in full sentences and include such elements as technical language, sub-headings and paragraphing. Here we see 56E taking factual information and writing it into well-constructed and complete sentences.
Maths:
In maths, students have initially revisited mental math strategies for addition and subtraction, such as double and near doubles, bridging to 10, jump, split, compensation and bump methods. There are so many ways to think about number. Have a look at this bookwork.
Integrated Studies:
Students have commenced their investigations of natural disasters and attended I-Max for an excursion of discovery. The movies were “Extreme Weather” and “Beautiful Planet”. The students have learned so much already. Please enjoy some comments:-
RRRR:
Students have commenced identification of some causes of stress and strategies that can be used to reduce stress. They have investigated and discussed factors that influence effective communication in a variety of situations.
