Grade 3/4 Students

Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours!

Literacy

The 3/4 students have been very focused on their return to Term 3 and have been embracing all of the great things we have been doing in our literacy sessions.

In writing, we have begun working on Procedural Texts that help explain a process clearly to someone. We’ve been including adjectives and adverbs in our sentences to ensure that our instructions are accurate, as well as including a list of all the materials and equipment required.

In reading, we have been working on our fluency and have been reading a text with a partner to help challenge ourselves to read smoothly and with increasing accuracy. The students have been ensuring they provide constructive feedback to their partner about how they have read. It’s been fantastic to see the students supporting each other in their reading!

Maths

In maths, we have started our unit on Multiplication. The students have been looking closely at exactly what this operation involves and its links to repeated addition and the idea of ‘groups of’. The students have begun practising their times tables strategies and coming up with number stories that link to a particular times table. It has been great to see students challenging themselves and persisting if they find something difficult!

Integrated

In term 3, the students will be looking at ‘What can my local government do for me?’. We have started this unit by looking closely at the definition of Democracy and each class has followed a democratic process in voting in a new SRC representative for Semester 2. We now move onto looking at the three different levels of government, who our leaders are and what different responsibilities they all have!

Production Rehearsals!

We got to witness some AMAZING dance moves in our first few sessions of Production rehearsals! The students were very enthusiastic and it bodes well for the performances in September. I’m sure some parents have seen some rehearsals happening at home as well!
